Amazon, Dish Network Said to Hold Talks on New Wireless Network

Amazon.com and Dish Network Corp. held talks about forming a partnership to build a new wireless network or an alliance that would allow Amazon Prime members to use a wireless service for an extra fee, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

Although sources cited by the Journal said a deal is not imminent, the report added that Dish’s foray into the wireless business could be helped by a tie-up with Amazon. The Journal also said a new network would be “an attractive option” for Amazon as it would be able to provide better connections to its Alexa and Dash devices and also provide an enhanced signal for Amazon Prime video.
