Medigus Secures Patents

Shares of Medigus were almost 4% higher pre-market Monday after the medical device company said it received a patent from the Japanese Patent Office and a notice of intention to grant patents from the European Patent Office for its micro ScoutCam miniature camera technology. The company said the Japanese patent represents the first patent it received for integrated endoscope irrigation.

Medigus said the portfolio of micro ScoutCam products includes a range of video camers with small diameter heads that are being developed “for a broad scale of unmet needs across medical, industrial and other scientific applications,” according to CEO Chris Rowland. The company added it has additional patent applications for integrated endoscope irrigation technology pending in Canada, the European Union, Israel, the US and South Korea.
