New Jersey Approves CenturyLink, Level 3 Communications Merger

CenturyLink’s $34 billion acquisition of Level 3 Communications (LVLT) has been approved by the State of New Jersey, clearing another hurdle for the two companies to merge. California remains the only state left to approve the merger.

The merger has not yet been approved by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as the two companies have yet to demonstrate that the combination of the two “shows an overall benefit to the public interest.”
